What is an .AppImage?
An AppImage is a single-file application format for Linux. You do not install it. You make it executable and run it directly. After downloading, open a terminal and run:chmod +x Inkloom.AppImage && ./Inkloom.AppImage
Quick start after download
1. Install and launch
Open the downloaded file. On macOS, drag Inkloom to your Applications folder. On Windows, run the installer. On Linux, make the AppImage executable and run it.
On first launch, Inkloom creates the local database and seeds a demo project automatically.
2. Try the demo project
Inkloom ships with a demo project so you can explore the full workflow immediately.
The demo includes an approved blueprint, a 20-chapter outline, three drafted chapters, continuity records, voice rules, and review findings.
3. Add your OpenRouter key
Go to Settings, paste your OpenRouter API key, and pick your planning, drafting, and image models. You can use any OpenRouter model slug.
No key? Every workflow still runs on the deterministic offline provider. The app is fully usable without AI.
4. Start your book
Create a new project. Describe your book in the Concept stage. Answer the adaptive intake questions. Build your Blueprint. Outline your chapters. Start drafting.
