All features

Every tool in the Manuscript Operating System.

Inkloom organizes the entire book creation process into five pillars. Each feature below belongs to one of them, and every feature connects to the others.

Concept, Blueprint, Outline, Chapters

Build the Book

Plan the book before you draft it. Concept, Blueprint, Outline, and Chapters.

Concept

Describe the book you want to write. Title, type, concept, audience, primary outcome, desired reader experience, tone, length, and research needs. Cascade generation builds each field on the last.

Adaptive Intake

Inkloom asks 4 to 6 specific questions about your book, only things it does not already know. Your answers become part of the canonical project record. Each question offers three genuinely distinct suggested answers.

Blueprint

Structured, editable fields matched to your book type. Lock what is settled. Locked fields become canonical. Everything generated afterward must respect them. Full revision history on every field.

Outline

Hierarchical outline with parts, sections, chapters, scenes, lessons, exercises, and appendices. Two-phase generation. Every chapter carries an operational brief. Drag and drop to reorder. Validation flags problems before they cost you.

Chapter Editor

A real rich-text manuscript editor with autosave, full version history, focus mode, find and replace, VS Code-style keyboard shortcuts, a context menu with AI actions, and section-level operations. AI proposals arrive as side-by-side diffs. Your text is never overwritten.

Compliance

After every chapter draft, Inkloom runs a compliance pass that checks the chapter against every obligation from its brief, the outline, the Blueprint, and the Concept record. Each check returns pass, fail, or partial with specific evidence cited from the text. Fix, Fix All, Goto, and Ignore buttons let you act on findings.

Brainstorm

When you are stuck, highlight a passage and get ten directions it could take, each grounded in the records the passage touches: facts, open loops, characters, promises, terms. One click drafts a direction into a reviewable diff.

Chapter Briefs

Every chapter carries an operational brief: purpose, objective, summary, required setup, required payoff, concepts introduced, what must not be repeated, how it connects to the previous chapter, and what it prepares for the next. Briefs are versioned and lock when the chapter is approved.

Manuscript Import

Import an existing manuscript in DOCX, PDF, Markdown, or TXT format. Inkloom preserves every word you wrote, detects chapter structure, and reconstructs the full project state around your writing. Non-destructive. Works without AI.

Canon, Continuity, Facts, Open Loops

Remember the Book

Inkloom records what your manuscript establishes and warns you when a later chapter contradicts it.

Continuity

Facts are extracted from your chapters into structured records with fact types, entity labels, confidence percentages, and source passages. Proposed facts promote to canonical with one click. Conflicts become cards. Nothing is ever silently resolved.

Canon

Canon is the set of facts your book has established as true. Proposed facts become canonical when you approve them. Canonical facts are binding on future generation. Superseded facts are preserved for history.

Context Trace

Every AI-made version in a chapter's History carries a Trace button. One click shows exactly what Inkloom knew when it created that version: the model, the prompt template and its version, the timestamp, and every context item with whether it was always included or retrieved by relevance.

Claim Validation

Claims are tracked with support levels: unsupported, partially supported, supported. The Validate Claim action on selected text creates a claim record and suggests what evidence would support it, without fabricating sources.

Character Tracking

For fiction, Inkloom tracks characters, motivations, knowledge states, relationships, world rules, timeline events, reveals, motifs, and point of view. Each character can have up to 8 reference images for visual consistency across generated covers and illustrations. Character rename propagates across the entire project.

Open Loops

Track open loops, questions, and unresolved threads across the manuscript. Know what you set up and what you still need to pay off. The system reminds you before a loop is forgotten.

World Building

For fiction, Inkloom tracks world rules with domain categories (magic, physics, society, product, process), source provenance, locations, timeline events, and motifs. Before drafting, it knows the rules your world follows, so a chapter does not break them without you knowing.

Source Management

Sources are linked to claims via citations. Upload research, classify it yourself, and link it to the claims it supports. The Sources tab in each chapter shows your research library and the claims in that chapter with their support status.

Print PDF, EPUB, DOCX, KDP-ready files

Publish the Book

Export print-ready PDFs, reflowable Kindle EPUB, DOCX, and Markdown. KDP-ready files.

KDP Export

Print presets in all five KDP trim sizes produce single-page PDFs with embedded fonts and gutter margins computed from page count. Kindle export is a reflowable EPUB. Also DOCX, Markdown, and plain text. A readiness check reports what needs attention before you publish.

KDP Keywords

Seven KDP keyword slots, 50 characters each. Generate suggestions from the blueprint, chapter summaries, and promises. Suggestions fill only empty, unlocked slots. Type your own, lock individual keywords, edit freely.
