Cover Studio: Design From Your Book
Cover Studio has two paths. Create Cover generates new cover concepts from your manuscript identity. Prepare Existing Cover takes artwork you already have and makes it print-ready. The Print Cover Calculator computes exact spine width, wraparound dimensions, and barcode clear zone for both paths.

Why this is hard
Long manuscripts have problems that short documents do not.
Cover design tools do not know your book. You start from a template and try to make it fit. Spine width, bleed, barcode clear zones, and aspect ratios are calculated by hand or guessed. And if you already have cover artwork, you still need Photoshop or a resizing tool to make it print-ready.
A print cover is not a front image. It is a wraparound: front, spine, back, with bleed, at exact dimensions determined by your page count, trim size, and paper weight. Get the spine width wrong and the cover does not fit. Kindle covers have different requirements: 1600 x 2560, sRGB, under 5 MB. And when your page count changes after you prepare the cover, most tools make you start over.
Cover Studio supports two paths. Create Cover: the Print Cover Calculator computes exact dimensions, then the planning model reads your blueprint, chapter summaries, promises, key terms, typography, character descriptions, and spine width, and proposes three distinct directions with front, spine, and back prompts plus a back-cover blurb. Spine text adapts to the actual physical spine width: narrow spines get minimal text, wider spines include title and author. If characters appear on the cover, their physical appearance comes from the character descriptions in your Continuity Hub, so the same person described in the manuscript is the same person rendered on the cover. Prepare Existing Cover: upload your artwork and the Cover Production Studio inspects it for quality, generates a smart spine if needed, assembles the wraparound at exact 300 PPI dimensions, and lets you inspect the seams. When your page count changes, one click re-conforms the cover: preserves front and back artwork, regenerates only the spine.
You edit prompts and the blurb. You choose which renders to keep. You choose the fitting mode, spine generation method, and spine typography. Uploaded originals are never modified. The gallery shows front, spine, and back at uniform height. You click any cover to zoom full size, click version pills to view older versions, and mark the finals used for export.
What other Inkloom features interact with it
Cover Production Studio
Upload cover artwork you already have and make it print-ready. CoverSpec calculates every dimension. Image inspection with quality states. Smart spine generation. Seam preview. Re-conform after page count changes. Export print PDF, Kindle JPEG, full wrap PNG, or front only.
Typography
Choose from 110 book typefaces with job-based metadata. Preset templates match your book type. Open-license fonts are bundled and embedded in exports. Your typography follows a semantic scale where everything is a ratio of your body size.
KDP Export
Print presets in all five KDP trim sizes produce single-page PDFs with embedded fonts and gutter margins computed from page count. Kindle export is a reflowable EPUB. Also DOCX, Markdown, and plain text. A readiness check reports what needs attention before you publish.
Book Preview
Preview in three formats: print book (true to your trim's aspect ratio), e-reader (flowing, like Kindle), and editorial manuscript (double-spaced monospace). Print and manuscript previews are genuinely paginated. Click any paragraph to spot-edit.
KDP Keywords
Seven KDP keyword slots, 50 characters each. Generate suggestions from the blueprint, chapter summaries, and promises. Suggestions fill only empty, unlocked slots. Type your own, lock individual keywords, edit freely.
A+ Content
Generate A+ content modules from the manuscript record: a hook, the method or structure, who it is for, what changes for the reader, and a visual module. Each module has editable text, an image prompt, and a Generate image button.
